Bed Sore / Skin / Wound Barrier Creams / Ointments No-Sting Skin-Prep Protective Dressing
No-Sting Skin-Prep Protective DressingNo-Sting Skin-Prep* is a liquid film-forming skin preparation that upon application to intact or damaged skin, forms a protective interface that helps prepare skin attachment sites for drainage tubes, external catheters, surrounding ostomy sites and other adhesive dressings. No-Sting Skin-Prep does not contain alcohol and therefore will reduce the potential for stinging. Helps to increase the adhesion of tapes and wafers. Helps tape and film adhesion. Only one coat is required, so less product is used per application. Protects fragile skin and reduces adhesive removal trauma. Easy to use, even on awkward areas. Moves naturally with patient’s skin; won’t crack or peel. Removes easily; leaves behind no sticky residue.
Many patients cannot tolerate the stinging caused by regular skin prep if in sensitive areas and prefer this product. Most Home Care Nurses keep these prep pads handy for their multiple uses. They prevent skin breakdown and cause better adherence of dressings such as Duoderm and tape. I encourage family caregivers to always apply skin prep first to the skin (especially the thin and fragile skin of elderly). TIP: One pad goes a long way, but be sure to allow thorough drying before applying dressings or tape.
