Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services can provide the non-medical support you need to maintain your independence in your own home. Our services include everything from driving to doctor`s appointments to small home repairs (handyman services), shopping, transportation, meal preparation, light housekeeping, personal grooming, dressing, overnight care, 24-hour care, yard work, mobility assistance, and of course since all of our providers are seniors themselves companionship comes with every service we provide.
Our Mission Statement is to provide our seniors with the ability to choose an independent lifestyle in their own homes, for as long as possible, with the dignity and respect they deserve by finding caring seniors to help each other; a way to give and to receive is a major difference of our Seniors Helping Seniors equation where both sides are helping each other both sides are giving and both sides are receiving.
We started in 1998 with the simple concept that seniors can help each other age better and those who give and receive benefit equally. Before coming to the United States and founding Seniors Helping Seniors, Kiran Yocom worked with Mother Teresa for 14 years. David VanderLinde is a Grand Rapids native who started and ran his own manufacturing company in SE Grand Rapids for 29 years. David and his wife Judy are very active in their parish at SS Peter and Paul and host monthly luncheons for the seniors of their parish. After battling cancer in 2004, David knew that he wanted to do something more with his life.
Seniors Helping Seniors provides the opportunity for David and Judy to help other seniors in West Michigan while at the same time providing careers for their children. Their daughter Amanda Thrush has several years of nursing experience as an LPN at two area nursing homes and is the acting Client Relations Manager for Seniors Helping Seniors. Her primary responsibility is matching up those seniors in need with our amazing providers who have such big hearts. Dave Jr. is also involved in the family business and he brings with him a marketing background and a passion for working with seniors. Judy VanderLinde says ``So many people in our community with big hearts and many talents want to provide loving service to our area seniors.`` Call us at 616-234-0190 and we will come in to get to know you in person to make sure that we are matching you up with the right provider for your needs.
