Dear Concerned Individual,
My path to home care is a bit unconventional. I began my career in asset management, working for several large financial institutions over the course of 15 years. Although I rapidly moved up the ranks, the financial services industry often left me feeling unfulfilled. It became evident that it was time for a change. As a resident of LongnIsland for almost 30 years, I knew I wanted to go to work each day feeling as though I did something to support the community and those in need. A series of events in my personal life pointed me towards home care.
My wife’s grandmother lived well into her 90’s. Although she mentally remained sharp, we watched her ability to perform routine, daily tasks slowly deteriorate. To complicate things further, my wife’s uncle, who resided in the same house, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. When we visited them, we often didn’t know what to expect on the other side of the door as they slowly slipped away. A caregiver was hired for the evenings at first, and later increased to full time to help alleviate some of the stress. One day, after providing several months of care, the caregiver disappeared without notice. Our family was devastated.
Our family experienced the emotional and financial stress that caring for loved ones can place on a family but never really found the help we needed. After doing some research, I discovered that my experience was not an isolated event. Many others were entrusting the care of their loved ones to agencies and individuals, only to be frustrated and disappointed by unprofessional, unreliable conduct. Agencies would go days without a returning a phone call. Aides would miss their shifts routinely with no warning or explanation. There had to be a better way.
The events above lead me to establish Brookside Home Care. My vision was simple – deliver the best care possible to the residents of Nassau, Queens and Suffolk Counties with an emphasis on customer service. Treat my clients as if they were real people dealing with a crisis rather than just a patient number on a piece of paper.Provide my clients with the compassion, caring and understanding that we needed during our family’s ordeal.
We’ve taken several steps to achieve this goal and differentiate ourselves from the competition….
1. We implemented a stringent caregiver screening and training processes which includes an extensive background check and over 12 hrs of training annually.
2. We embraced state-of-the art technology to maximize agency efficiency and minimize the administrative burden on family members.
3. We provide on-call services 24 hrs per day, 7 days per week to answer all questions and deal with any unforeseen issues that may arise.
The implementation of these steps allows us to provide a level of care and service that’s unsurpassed. Try us. The difference will be obvious.
