Reliamed Reinforced Silver Alginate/CMC Dressing is a latex free, highly absorbant, antimicrobial dressing. It comes in a rope/ribbon style for easy one piece removal. Controlled silver ion release provides a broad spectrum of antimicrobial protection for up to three days. Blend of calcium alginate and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) provides excellent gelling and wet strength for one piece, non-traumatic removal. Highly absorbent. Fluid wicks vertically into the dressing, minimizing the possibility of peri-wound skin maceration. Reduces odor primarily caused by bacteria. Can be used for post-operative wounds, trauma wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, graft and donor sites.
Calcium alginates are derived from seaweed and excellent for absorption of moderate to heavy draining wounds. Calcium alginate rope is effective for packing draining wound cavities and tunneling while gauze form best suited for draining wounds not needing packing. These dressings work best by absorbing excess drainage while maintaining a moist wound environment at the same time which is critical for wound healing. In addition the silver component decreases or eliminates bacteria in an infected wound.
